join our new feature: subscriber chat
a private space for us to converse, connect, and complain together
Sup y’all. We’re emailing you a lil ahead of schedule this week to officially announce a brand new perk for subscribers: The Broiler Room Chat.
This is a conversation space in the Substack app exclusively for our subscribers — kind of like a group chat or message board if you’re old enough to remember those golden days of the internet. Seriously, we used to love message boards and we’re stoked to host this one just for you cool motherfuckers. We’ll post short prompts, cooking tips, share spooky stories, new book updates, and YOU have a seat at the cool kids table. The point is for all of us here to use it to build our own lil community of weirdos, maybe feel less alone, and get help both in and out of the kitchen. We’re excited and hope you are too. If you’re not a subscriber you can fix that now.
To join our chat, you’ll need to download the Substack app. Messages are sent via the app, not email, which is annoying but Substack swears they’re working on a version for desktops and Androids soon. We’ll just have to be patient. Until then, turn on push notifications so you don’t miss a chance to join conversations as they happen or just check in when you have a long, awkward elevator ride. You’ll look busy and important reading our chaotic kitchen chat.
How to get started
Download the app by clicking this link or the button below. Chat is only on iOS for now, but chat is coming to the Android app and desktop soon.
Open the app and tap the Chat icon. It looks like two bubbles in the bottom bar, and you’ll see a row for our chat inside.
That’s it! Jump into the thread to say hi, and if you have any issues, check out Substack’s FAQ.
We’ve already started the first chat thread so come on over, say hey, and let’s start our expanding our own little weird corner of the internet. We’ll bring the snacks. See you soon.
