Well I just made it for lunch and it doesn’t matter how it looks lol. I can tell you all first hand that it is delicious. We had it with a side of toasted sourdough bread, topped with hummus, avocado and some sunflower seeds.
Wanna get extra full? Always... always coconut rice ❤️ I make a lot of bad manners recipes but I’m too chicken to post the pictures because I can not only see but hear Matt cringe! I know the cookbook is just days away, but one thing I wish I could see ahead of time is the table of contents.. just to obsess about what I will make first. Patiently waiting by my mailbox 📪
Wow! I finally got covid for the first time and I just made this soup. Who need chicken soup? This is delicious and lots more nutritious stuff in here! Yum!!!!
I love that article on cookbook illustration so much, and extra points for mentioning Laurie Colwin. Good food photography is no joke. Whenever I've had a terrible week and need a good belly laugh, I pull out James Lileks's book The Gallery of Regrettable Food. Can't wait to make the soup!

Do you have a suggestion for substituting the ume plum vinegar? I’ve had no luck finding in Salt Lake and refuse to order from Amazon. 😅

I think I might have to disagree on one thing: the photos in the article of the soup look extremely tasty!
