Thanks so much for adding all the info about jackfruit for rookies. I’ve been hesitant to try the jf recipes because of, well, ignorance. No longer.

I pretty much only use jackfruit for “pulled pork” type recipes, but try a pulled jackfruit pizza. 🤤 I like to cook the jackfruit in a dry rub, then for the pizza a bbq sauce base and the jackfruit, cook it, then add a coleslaw on top after it’s cooked.

These are fantastic! My husband didn’t believe me when I told him it wasn’t “pulled pork”!

Would your Galveston Island Spice Blend from Vice House work for the all-purpose seasoning? Or is it not the right vibe for these flavours? (Side note: made the Chicken Fried Hen a few weeks ago and I could not stop myself from eating it all in one sitting. Hot damn! I was so fucking pissed when I had to cook again the next day...)

May seem remedial, but I wanted to make sure. When making half of the recipe, should I just cut the ingredients in half?

Also have my fingers crossed for a fall book tour! Come through Phoenix!

Your instincts are correct! Half across the broad should be just fine

Totally agree with SueJ! I’ve been anxious to try jackfruit but didn’t know where to begin exactly. Thank you!

Don’t waste your time on the preflavored jackfruit in the store. You’ll always get the BEST results using the cans. Plus they’re cheaper too!

These look amazing! And thanks for the instructions on how to cook jackfruit! Quick question: How does this freeze? I'm single and mostly cook for myself or maybe just one or two others, so I'm always looking for good meal prep. I'd love to make up a batch of this and have it in the freezer to pull out for sandwiches or nachos. Also, how about the celery seed slaw? How long will it keep? Thanks!!

The jackfruit will freeze with zero issues. The slaw is only good for a day or own after you dress it BUT you could cut the cabbage up ahead of time and dress it as needed to save on prep time. Hope this helps!
