That Martin guy and other posts like that? Yeah, you aren't for those people. Those are not your people. We are your people. The next time it happens, dip your shoulder towards it. LIterally. Actually turn and dip your shoulder in the physical action. Say out loud, "Bouncing right off the bullshit shield!" Because that is what is. Bullshit that needs to bounce right off your shield. I learned this from a friend with a toxic mother. She swears by it and so do it. Keep doing great work.

It’s easy to be cruel when behind a computer. Therapy is a wonderful tool that can be taken out again when needed. Thank you for bringing a whole new level of awareness and sophistication to vegan cooking. β€οΈπŸ™πŸ»

Oh. This hurt my heart. I am clearly naive and wouldn’t have thought that anyone would care so much about cookbooks… that happen to be good for your body and soul and humor. I mean, if you think it is commie bullshit, then don’t read it, right? I am so utterly tired of shit humans. I am so grateful for the excellent humans, such as yourselves, who try to help us all be better. Namaste to both you.

Damn. I guess I didn't think of how much shit there is out there, waiting for people who want to make a difference. Thank you for sharing and glad both of you are still ok. I've loved every book and I am SO glad you both keep showing up for us. I'm so sorry you got the brunt of those people's hate.

I can’t remember how I found you, but I’m glad I did. I bought your Original Bad Manners Cookbook about three years ago. I know I gummed it up making the cauliflower β€œwings”- quite delicious. That must be how I got on your email list and was able to sign up for The Broiler Room. You all appeal to me because you’re funny, irreverent, knowledgeable, yet accessible for schmucks like me who love to read cookbooks, some food blogs, NYT’s cooking site, but rarely cook everything I β€œsave.” I’ve recently moved and my original cookbook is temporarily lost in storage, so I’m looking forward to your new release arriving soon. I had no idea of the backlash you’ve experienced; some of which is profoundly disturbing. I would never have known you lead nothing bu a charmed lifeβ€” two beautiful, talented people, who turn out to be as human as us all. Congratulations on your new release! The others can Fu*k Off.

I published a book the years ago. I could not stand promoting it- it caused me so much anxiety that I pretty much stopped writing. So yeah, I feel you, but also I'm so happy you still do it because I love your books and podcast.

β€œThey” always say to avoid reading the comments section. I love your books, I have gifted them to non-vegan friends who love them, and I am looking forward to Brave New Meal. Keep being yourselves, you are wonderful.

Keep treading those shark-filled waters because the light that you both are, shines very very bright.

Thank you for sharing, I was surprised a cookbook could illicit such hatred. Sending you both strength to deal with both the good & the bad. I’d send you meds, but they’re mine!! BTW, my first experience with Jackfruit was wildly successful. Many thanks.
